This afternoon our entire travel group of 24 families (63 adults+ kids) went to the Great Wall. Why is it called the "Great" Wall - because its GREAT (at least that's what our local guide Mandy said).
Whatever the reason, it is truly amazing and IMO well-deserving of its "wonder of the world" status. The pictures (especially on a very cloudy and overcast day) don't do justice to how immense the construction is and how it follows the almost vertical terrain of the mountains up and out of sight! (More pictures will follow).
I made it up to between the 3rd and 4th tower on the steepest side of the valley before running out of time (and energy). The return trip down wasn’t too tough on the legs due to recent practice in the Grand Tetons.
After the Wall we all had a group “Peking Duck” dinner (or should that be Beijing Duck now?) and the duck was very good!
