We arrived in Hong Kong

Today was our last day in Guangzhou. We attended the swearing in ceremony, and then received Sarah’s passport and a brown envelope with all the documents we had submitted and orders to not open, destroy or lose it. The envelope will be given to U.S. immigration upon arrival into the United States. It is still amazing to me to look at Sarah and realize she is our little girl, but she is. Yeah!!
After the ceremony we came back to the hotel to change buses for our 3 ½ hour bus ride to Hong Kong. It was interesting to see a bit more of China and the girls did fine on the trip, eating McDonald’s (yes, again). The downside of taking the bus and not flying was when we got to Hong Kong we needed to get off the bus to go through customs, which meant every bag, carry on as well as your luggage had to be go through customs so everything which normally would have been checked and then forgotten about until you picked up your bags at luggage had to be carried and there were no carts to put any of your luggages on so for some of the families with lots of luggage, stroller and children who were less than thrilled to be woken up or in need of a nap, it was not a fun experience.
Though going by bus was a bit more work, the sights coming into Hong Kong were truly spectacular, well worth any hassle with the bags. When we arrived at the hotel around 9:00 P.M., we found out there was no reservations for us, not what you want to hear at the end of a 3 1/2 hour bus ride and wanting to get yourself and kids to bed. But Simon, the hero worked out the details and we were soon in our room. But first, they gave us a room with a single bed and a crib. That wouldn’t do so than they gave us two twin/double size beds that we have pushed together, so we’ll see how that works. I’m in the middle so I expect I’ll see what Rachel has been complaining about for the past 2 weeks. But if you check out the pictures we now have evidence that more than one Thomas doesn’t stay on her side of the bed. hee, hee!!
Here are a few pictures; Rachel and Sarah trying out the crib to see who might fit, Rachel and Sarah trying out the new swim ring for the pool, bus ride to Hong Kong, Girls who opened door for you when you came and went from China Hotel and a picture of July 4th parade and trip to Monterey Aquarium. (Sorry last two out of sequence but wanted to include them anyway.
It’s amazing that our time in China is coming to an end. I’m looking forward to getting home but a bit sad to be leaving China. It has been a wonderful trip, but after almost 3 weeks, it will be really nice to sleep in our own bed and have both girls tucked in their beds as well.
